Sips & Tips for Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

Have you noticed a pattern in the style of wines you order when dining out?   Are you looking for something new and interesting to break up the routine?  We’ve recently added several new and exciting wines to our glass pour selection, and I’m sure you’ll easily find a new favorite on the list at Joe’s!

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a crisp glass of white wine on a warm summer afternoon.  You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better wine for the job than the 2013 Feudi di San Gregorio, Falanghina, Campania, Italy ($13 per glass). Intense aromas of fresh-squeezed lime accompanied by hints of green apple and white flowers lead to bright notes of citrus fruit and minerals on the palate. If you enjoy the easy going nature of Pinot Grigio, you’ll be enticed by the approachability of Falanghina. This delicious style of wine is a great match for our Seared Sea Scallops.

From the small village of Savennieres, located on the northern banks of the central Loire river, comes the 2010 Domaine Des Baumard, Savennieres, Loire, France ($15 per glass). This region is known for growing Chenin Blanc, the ‘chameleon’ of grape varietals with a unique style that can morph based upon the area where it is planted.  Intense floral notes mixed with honeysuckle and powerful minerality mark this a savory wine geared for adventurous palates. For those who typically enjoy Sauvignon Blanc, the versatility of this Chenin will be a perfect pair for our Heirloom Tomatoes with Manchego Cheese & Aged Basalmic.

Over the past few years the popularity of Pinot Noir has hit an all-time high, accompanied by an increase in prices.  However, one consistent value from California’s famous Sonoma Coast combines the fresh aspects of Pinot Noir with a spicy lift from Syrah. The 2011 Flowers “Perennial”, Sonoma Coast, California ($18 per glass) is a luscious offering, with notes of blackberry and huckleberry up front, followed by flavors of blood orange and nutmeg. This unique blend is complete with small amounts of Pinot Meunier, Dolcetto and Chardonnay (for an aromatic lift) which partners perfectly with Alaskan King Salmon.

Wine Tip: In order to assist you in finding the perfect glass of wine, we’ll be happy to offer a sample tasting of any of our glass pours.  The perfect pairing for your meal is only a sip away!
