Half bottles create an opportunity to heighten your dining
experience by allowing each course to be matched with the perfect wine. Start
your celebration off right with a bottle of 2009 Schramsberg, Blanc de Blancs, California ($45 per bottle).
For nearly five decades, the Davies family has been mastering the craft of
turning Chardonnay into the most delicious sparkling wine in California. Made
from 100% Chardonnay, sourced throughout Napa, Sonoma, and Marin counties, the
Blanc de Blancs (white from white) offers fresh green apple and pineapple, with
notes of toasted bread and vibrant minerality. Fresh Florida Stone Crab Claws and a glass of this
sparkler is the perfect way to kick off your meal at Joe’s.
Emeritus Vineyards was founded in the Russian River Valley
in 1999 by California wine legend Brice Jones.
His dream was to create a ‘noble and authentic’ Pinot Noir. With intention to focus on balance over
intensity, the 2011 Emeritus, Pinot
Noir, Russian River Valley, California ($82 per bottle) is both
alluring and finessed. Delicate red
fruit aromas of raspberry and strawberry gradually lead to sultry blue fruit
and notes of cinnamon on the palate. This wine offers tremendous pairing
flexibility, making this selection the easiest part of the evening, as it goes
well with most everything on the menu!
The term “Super Tuscan” refers to a style of wine being
produced in the small community of Tuscany called Bolgheri. Thanks to the soil
type and climatic conditions, grape varieties of the Bordeaux origin thrive
here, whereas they would be unsupported elsewhere in Italy. The 2010 Le Serre Nouve Dell’ Ornellaia
($165 per bottle) is a hearty blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. This lovely wine is made by Ornellaia, one of
the original houses of the “Super Tuscan” winemaking style. Beautiful notes of
red fruit and spice, followed by silky tannin, make this the perfect pairing
for Braised Short Rib.
